Violence Outreach Intervention and Community Education (VOICE): Reducing Interpersonal Gun Violence in Northern New Jersey Cities

Objective:
The program uses an innovative hybrid approach to improve the delivery of gun violence prevention and intervention programs. To our knowledge, this is the first hybrid community project in any northern New Jersey city that addresses gun violence and its health related issues. We believe that our program will increase the reach for at-risk community populations, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic era. Consistent with our pilot study, we expect that participants will show significant knowledge gain, increase help-seeking, and promote awareness through this program. We believe that the hybrid program can overcome the major barriers to attendance and reduce the costs of interventions. Through this funding, we aim to establish a sustainable virtual program that continuously delivers community prevention and intervention through technology.
