Impact of Online Gun Violence Exposure on Sleep and Suicide Risk among NJ Teens

Objective:
This study aims to examine the nature and frequency of SM exposure to gun violence on a daily basis among NJ teens, and to evaluate its impact on sleep disruption (e.g., shorter sleep, disturbances), and suicide risk (e.g., suicidal thinking) the same and next day. We further aim to explore whether gun violence exposure may contribute to disparities in sleep and suicide risk for minoritized youth, with sleep disruption as an indirect pathway linking gun violence exposure and suicidal thinking.
