GVRC Funded Projects
Since February 2019, the NJ Gun Violence Research Center (GVRC) has supported internal research funding for faculty, doctoral students, and staff to advance rigorous, evidence-based scholarship on gun violence. Aligned with GVRC’s mission to serve as a center of excellence, funded projects span disciplines including public health, policy, and behavioral science. Awards are granted through a competitive RFP process to foster innovative approaches to prevention and intervention.
Projects were awarded from three different categories:
- Scholar grants supporting completion of a manuscript for peer-reviewed journal submission
- Grants supporting analysis of available gun violence related data
- Full-scale pilot studies.
The 2026 NJ GVRC Summit brought together researchers, community leaders, policymakers, and practitioners to explore practical approaches to firearm violence prevention in New Jersey. This blog highlights key takeaways from the Summit’s ERPO breakout session, including barriers to ERPO use, common misconceptions, and opportunities to build awareness and trust.
