The New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center Firearm Suicide Prevention Fellowship

The New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center (GVRC) is hosting its second annual Firearm Suicide Prevention Fellowship, a one-day training designed to help trainees deepen their understanding of firearm suicide prevention research, connect with mentors, and engage with peers committed to reducing firearm-related deaths.
The fellowship brings together leading researchers, practitioners, and emerging scholars to explore evidence-based strategies, share best practices, and identify opportunities for collaboration in firearm suicide prevention.
What Attendees Will Learn:
- Current research and data trends in firearm suicide prevention
- Strategies for developing and implementing firearm-focused public health interventions
- Best practices for community engagement and culturally responsive research
- Approaches for securing funding and advancing research careers in the field
- Opportunities to collaborate across disciplines, including public health, psychology, and criminal justice
- Guidance from experienced mentors on building a sustainable research trajectory
Funding for Attendees:
Each attendee will receive a $500 award to support participation.
Eligibility:
The fellowship is open to post-baccalaureate researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows from any field. Individuals should have an interest in firearm violence and/or suicide prevention efforts. Prior expertise in these areas is not required. Those who attended last year are welcome to apply again.
