Demographic differences in the type of firearm and location of bodily injury in firearm suicide decedents
Objective:
To determine the type of firearm used, owner of the firearm, storage habits, and location of injury among suicide decedents who used a firearm in their suicide death, and to examine differences among sexes, races, and age groups.
Methods:
Data from the National Violent Death Reporting System was used. 117,126 individuals who died by firearm suicide from 2003-2018 were included in analyses.
