Dr. Mayer’s research includes analyzing national data, modeling school violence related processes. Dr. Mayer has led several trans-disciplinary teams in research journal special issues and edited book projects addressing school violence, including attention to school shootings. He co-facilitated national level responses among interdisciplinary experts to the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012 and Parkland, Florida in 2018.
