Jeffrey Lane is an urban ethnographer who studies issues of neighborhood and dating violence, youth outreach work and intervention, and policing and justice. His new book The Digital Street shows how social media use shapes youth gun violence and community and legal responses. Lane conducts fieldwork with youth, outreach workers, and judicial actors in New York City.
