Dr. Semenza studies the causes and consequences of violence, both in the United States and around the world. His current work uses Google Trends data to examine how Americans respond to mass shootings with interest in gun control. A second project explores how the concentration of federally licensed firearms dealers influences rates of gun violence. Dr. Semenza has published his work in outlets such as Journal of Marriage and Family, Aggression and Violent Behavior, Crime and Delinquency, and Criminal Justice & Behavior.
